The white, powdery precipitation called snow is a winter’s delight! It falls from the sky as snowflakes. One condition is the temperature. It has to be below freezing or below 32°F or 0°C. This freezing temperature makes the water in the atmosphere freeze and turn into snowflakes! The other condition is atmospheric lift. This is when updrafts from the ground push the tiny crystals of ice as the fall. This pushes the ice crystals back into the clouds where they can get bigger and fall as snowflakes! These updrafts also have to be humid or moist in order for it to snow.
