- Plant Seeds
- Dark cabinet or room
- Soil
- Water
- Adult science helper
Directions: Plants have an amazing superpower! They are able to grow up because of the Sun and are able to survive because of the Sun! To demonstrate this, put the seed in one pot full of soil and place it in the sunlight. Then, place another pot with soil inside of a dark cabinet or room. Remember to water the plants! What do you notice? Write those observations down on your paper!
After waiting for a few weeks or for a month, you should notice that the plant in the sunlight is able to grow straight and is thriving, while the plant in the cabinet has roots, but is not able to grow up because there is no sunlight!
