Edward Jenner is known as the father of vaccinology. His concept is different from today’s concept but it was similar. He took puss from a milkmaid with cowpox and rubbed it on a young boy’s hand. Then he did the same with smallpox and the young boy was immune to smallpox. This was very important because smallpox was a big problem back in the 1700’s.
