Materials:
- Yourself!
- A piece of paper and a pencil/pen
- A stopwatch
- An adult science helper!
Directions: Can you move your hands to look like a bird that is flapping its wings? Great! Now, try to do that at hummingbird speed! First, have your adult science helper time you flapping your wings for 10 seconds. Make sure to count how many flaps you do it total. Then, calculate your number of wing flaps per second by dividing the number of wing flaps for the whole ten seconds by 10. Some hummingbirds can flap its wings over 200 times per second! That’s fast! See if you can beat that!!
