What Is Salinity?

Salinity is the amount of salt in water. Salt is a mineral that is commonly found in water, especially in the ocean. Salt dissolves in water very easily, so it is easy to detect the presence of salt in water. The higher the salinity, the more salt there is in the water. Higher salinity can mean that the water is denser. This means that the molecules are packed tightly together. Salt water can cause things that don’t normally float to float. An example is in the Dead Sea, where people float without even trying. This is because of the high salt content in the water.
