Wing Shape and Size Matters!

Materials:

a computer (to search for classic paper airplane instructions)

paper

pencil/pen

scissors (ADULT SUPERVISION REQUIRED)

Directions: Find directions, on the internet, to make a classic paper airplane. After you make the airplane, throw it and see how far the airplane flew. Also record the airplanes movements in the air on a piece of paper. Then, make some adjustments to the wing. Maybe, make it thicker or thinner or make the wings larger. Then, compare your original airplane to the original airplane that you remodeled. How does it fly? Does it go in a straight line or just drops down? As we hard in the episode, the size and thickness of the airfoil shape matter. Send us your results by going to www.spectacularsci.com/contact.
