Why is it Warmer During the Summer?
Here in the Northern hemisphere of the Earth, it’s summertime! The season, Summer, can be hotter or cooler depending on where you live, but on average, the temperatures do rise during the Summer. This is due to the way the Earth orbits the Sun. The Earth’s orbit is not a perfect circle. There are some points in its orbit that the Earth is closer to the Sun. When a part of the Earth is closer to the Sun, the season is Summer!
But, what makes it Summer in only specific parts of the Earth at a time? That is due to Earth’s tilt. Earth is slightly tilted on its side. As it orbits around the Sun, different parts of the Earth get closer or farther away from the Sun. That is why Summer is hot!
