It is all because of friction. Friction is a force that happens when two or more objects are rubbed together. This can break the object, generate heat, or make sounds. Friction is a force that blocks the movement. That is why remote control cars can’t drive well on carpet. When there is too much friction, the force builds up and gets released in a giant release of energy. When you rub two things together, it can also generate heat! Friction can break up the particles because the force that comes from the friction may be string enough to break the material. Surfaces with rough bumps or tiny grains produce the mots friction. Smooth surfaces do not really produce that much friction. Friction can be used for sanding down sharp edges, generating heat, and keep us standing upright on Earth! Objects always slow down because of the friction between the object and the ground. That friction can produce heat or can break the object up into smaller particles!
