Heat transfer is the spread of heat between objects. There are three types: conduction, radiation, and convection. Conduction is heat that is transferred through direct contact. Conductors are materials that allow heat to pass through them. An example of conduction is touching a hot pot on a stove (NEVER do that!). Then, there is radiation. Radiation is heat that travels in invisible waves or rays. Radiation means that there is no direct contact. Examples of radiation are the Sun’s rays shining down and microwaves. Then, there us convection. Convection is the rising and sinking motion of liquids or gases when they are heated and cooled. As it is heated, it rises and as it cools down, it sinks.
