What is the Sun?
The Sun is the center of the Solar System. The Sun is a star, just like all of the tiny glowing dots you see in the sky at night. The Sun is the closest star to Earth and all of the planets in the Solar System.
Why is the Sun important for Earth?
The Sun provides Earth with heat! That heat keeps our planet from freezing up. This will help humans and other living things stay at the right temperature. The Sun also gives out light! Light is what we humans use to tell the difference from day and night. Light also lets humans and animals see the world. The Sun also gives out charged particles. These charged particles help create heat on our planet and give our planet its atmosphere.
