Are Cement and Concrete the Same Thing?

The short answer is no, Concrete is not the same as Cement. Here’s why:

What is Concrete and What is Cement?

Concrete is a mix of rocks, powders, chemicals, and water. When Concrete hardens, it becomes a very strong building material. Concrete actually is a human-made material. Concrete can be used to hold things together, like a foundation of a building. Concrete is also used to make roads and sidewalks. Cement is a powder that is made out of calcined lime (a type of rock) and calcium hydroxide (a powdery chemical). Cement is actually an ingredient or an element of Concrete. Cement helps give Concrete it’s strength and it’s ability to be a liquid at first, but to turn into a solid after drying! Without Cement, there would be no concrete!
