The Sun in the Summer!

The Sun is the center of the Solar System. The Sun is a star, just like all of the tiny glowing dots you see in the sky at night. The Sun is the closest star to Earth and all of the planets in the Solar System. Here in the Northern hemisphere of the Earth, it’s summertime! The season, Summer, can be hotter or cooler depending on where you live, but on average, the temperatures do rise during the Summer. This is due to the way the Earth orbits the Sun. The Earth’s orbit is not a perfect circle. There are some points in its orbit that the Earth is closer to the Sun. When a part of the Earth is closer to the Sun, the season is Summer! The Sun does not really change temperature but the position of the Earth causes us to feel that way.
