What is a Microphone?
A microphone is a device that makes sound waves into electrical signals. These electrical signals are stored inside of a computer or other recording device. FUN FACT: I actually use a podcast microphone to record my podcast! The microphone’s signals can go to two places: (1) to a computer or other recording device or (2) a speaker which makes the electrical signals into sound waves again. In the 1900’s microphones were only limited to singers and bands. As new microphones were invented, they spread all across that world!
Who Invented the FIRST Traditional Microphone?
The first traditional microphone was invented by Emile Berliner. This microphone was actually made out of a drum!! Emile Berliner also worked with Thomas Edison on this invention. This technique would absorb the sound waves and amplify it! This is considered the first traditional microphone.
