Why is the Equator the Warmest Place on Earth?
The Equator is the halfway point on Earth. Even though there are lots of other places on Earth that are hotter, the Equator has the warmest stable climate on Earth! Climate is what temperatures and precipitation a certain place experience during a long period of time. Climate relates to larger patterns in the atmosphere. The Equator has the warmest climate since it is the halfway point on Earth. Since Earth is a sphere, or a ball shape, different parts of the Earth get different amounts of sunlight and different heat patterns. The Equator is the halfway point, so more sunlight will heat it up because the equator is bulging out of Earth.
Imagine a ball. The halfway point on the ball is sticking out form the rest of the ball (top and bottom).
