Vaccines!

A vaccine is a weakened or dead virus or bacteria that gets injected in your body. Your immune system cells will fight the “virus” and you will not get sick. Then, as your immune system fights the virus, special cells will remember the virus. When the real virus shows up, your body will immediately fight the real virus off because of antibodies, proteins that your immune cells produce. This is all thanks to White Blood Cells. White Blood Cells are cells in your body that are part of the Immune System. The Immune System is your body’s inner defense system. They hunt down viruses and bacteria and help clean them up.

White Blood Cells hunt down and get rid of foreign objects like viruses and bacteria. Here is how they do it:

  1. The White Blood cells find a virus or bacteria
  2. They identify the virus or bacteria
  3. They start multiplying themselves to start the clean up
  4. They release antibodies which hook onto the virus and get rid of it

Thanks to White Blood Cells and vaccines, we can all stay safe from dangerous viruses.
