Placebos are used in clinical trials. Placebos are fake medicines or vaccines that help researchers compare people who took the medicine with people who just got a fake medication. Placebos do nothing inside of a person’s body. Placebos for vaccines and tablets can be made out of salt, water, and sugar. These people, who took the placebos, are known as the control group. They are the group that is not being experimented on. The control group helps scientists know how people would react without taking the medication! That is what placebos are!
