What Is A Supermoon?

A supermoon is an astronomical event when the Moon is in the closest point to Earth in its orbit. From Earth, the Moon looks bigger and brighter during a supermoon. The Moon will be 30% brighter and 14% bigger! The Moon’s orbit is not a perfect circle. It is actually a stretched-out oval or ellipse. With this type of orbit, the Moon is closer to Earth at some points and farther from Earth at other points. The closer points are when supermoons happen!
